Spiral Stairs

5_11_11 Update: Here are some photos of the interior spiral stairs leading from the second floor to the third floor. It has a panoramic view of the waterway and ultimately the ocean in Holden Beach, NC. It is outfitted with a bar and a beautifully layed compass rose in the floor which is centered on due north. The spiral treads and handrail were made of oak. The balusters have the same simple but elegant design that is consistant with the stair leading from the lower floor to the first floor with the open rail.

 

When space is limited, a beautiful alternative is a spiral stair. This one is made for exterior use out of aluminum. For this particular house on the waterway in Holden Beach, this was actually the second set we built for them. The other set was a wooden one leading from the second floor to the third level above. This one will lead from the ground level in the rear of the house to the second level. There are several photos of the other aluminum curved steps leading from the third level to the “widows watch” in the Gallery of Products slide show. Aluminum is the preferred material against steel as it requires less maintenance and, best of all, does not rust. It will be primed and painted prior to completion and installation
